Academy Securities is veteran-owned and hiring veterans
Our Employer of the Week series features one company each week that has made a commitment to hiring and supporting veterans. This week's employer is Academy Securities.
Academy Securities' team is "Wall Street experienced, military trained and client-focused." It is the country's first and only post-9/11 veteran and disabled veteran-owned and operated investment bank with strength in capital markets, public finance, fixed income, and equity trading. If leveraging your past military training, gaining current financial experience, growing geopolitical knowledge sounds like a career you would be interested, Academy Securities is hiring.
"We are primarily owned by veterans so we are all people who have made this journey ourselves," said Mike Boyd, chief compliance officer and head of veteran engagement at Academy Securities. "For most of us when we got out of the service companies didn't really have veteran hiring programs, and it was something that was very difficult for us to deal with."
Academy Securities offers a veteran mentorship program for veterans to meet with current team members, get advice on schooling, and coordinate career moves. The company also offers a fellowship program that allows veterans to earn security brokers licenses, a veteran internship program, and a veteran hiring program.
"We're leveling the playing field and helping veterans get into an industry that a lot feel — rightly or wrongly — is closed off to them," Boyd added.
