Stop & Shop not only hires vets, it supports them as well
Employer of the Week Stop & Shop is not only a 100-year old neighborhood grocer. It’s committed to helping veterans and their families through its 7-year partnership with the USO.
“The USO provides a variety of critical support to servicemen and women, including food programming and care packages, keeping families connected and supporting their transition back to civilian life with employment, housing financial readiness and more,” said Maura O’Brien, external communications and community relations at Stop & Shop.
Throughout July, Stop & Shop customers using self-checkout registers can round up their total to the nearest dollar and the company will donate all of the change to the USO through the “Support our Servicemen and Women” campaign.
“Our stores throughout Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island New York and New Jersey are excited to once again support the USO to help our nation’s heroes and their families,” added Army veteran and Senior Vice President of Operations at Stop & Shop Stacy Wiggins.
The partnership has helped to raise more than $4 million for the USO to date.
An Ahold Delhaize USA Company, Stop & Shop employs nearly 60,000 associates and operates over 400 stores throughout the Northeast.
Stop & Shop also offers a number of resources to its associates including internal veteran associate resource groups that assist its veteran employees and their families, said O’Brien.
